Rooted in Family
It started, like most great things, with a family conversation. My brother was deep in the world of nutrition and health, the kind of person who reads ingredient labels for fun. My mom had gone vegan and was searching for alternative proteins that actually satisfied. I started digging. Not literally (well, maybe a little). What I found in the world of mushroom cultivation stopped me in my tracks and never let go.
I went from curious to obsessed in record time, experimenting with Pink Oysters, Lion's Mane, Shiitake, Reishi, Turkey Tail, and beyond. Then came Heather, my partner in life and in fungi, and Mycofolks was born. Together, we run this little mycelium empire from Virginia with an enormous amount of heart, a deep love of wellness, and a genuine belief that the way we eat can change the way we live.
Oh, and we don't do this alone. D&S Plantation, LLC, a family farm in South Carolina, is a core partner, supplying substrates and growing space. It's a full-on family operation. Which honestly? Is exactly how mushrooms like it.
